Article Writers Unite!
I'm tiered of always waiting for something or something being down or something disiapperaing.
I've searched and searched to only find that theres always something I don't like about something. Can't please them all I guess. So I've decided to build my own "Article Site" and I'm going to build it my way, the way it should be.
Right now we're working on the layout. How it'll work and how it'll feel. The things we want to use and the things we don't. We're going to design this with the writer in mind. A writer first aproach. We'll design it to where you get paid in a timely manner and at a fair rate. It'll be simple but robust and full of "simple non-breaking" features. Fast to down load, free to join, no extra accounts needed. Thats always a hassle I think. I just want to sign up and write!
Then I started thinkning... How do I want to do this???? Whats the best way to get everything done. YOu have to have a great plan inorder to have a great website. So... I thought I would ask the most important people on the list. YOU!
The Website will be up and in betta in 60 days!
P.S. Other programers will see this and may decide to .... build on it... So we have to be fast about getting it done... It's in the open :)And also I don't mind one bit that you guys see how i'll make my money and how you'll make your's.... Thats the point :)
Here's what I have so far....(Chatting with the programmer)
the idea is simple, as your links shows:
1) a site that contain articles, where registered users write articles.
2) the article goes to a pool of pending articles, after checking that the admin will approve it and then it will be published.
3) articles are kept in different categories, while writting there will be some tags about the articles. can be sorted according to topic, date, tag etc.
4) user registration, login. user profile will be available and also there will be a user ranking based on their article rating or contribution to comments.
5) article rating system.
6) user can report violation if the article contain something wrong he thinks.
7) discussion about the article by users- whether they like it or not, what they think about it.
8) flexible searching->(target will be at first title, then target will be tags, then the content, and also the rating and comments will be important while searching).
9) there will be some other pages, like contact, some instructin for article writing etc.
10) newsletters for user. so that they can know any user anouncement or can know that if an new article arrives, or any comment or rating is done on his article.
about admin panel:
1) admin can add, delete, edit data from database.
2) will approve the articles. and if there is any problem he finds or others reported he will check that.
3) there will be some security actions: like tracking user ip, how frequently the login, track their activities.
so that the admin can track what is happing really,
4) admin will see all the activities in dashboard.
what is the benifit of users in this site?
ans: well we have two type of users: 1) who like to read articles, 2) who write articles.
now the first category will find some good articles so they will keep visiting that.
for category 2: these people will write articles. so if they are professional writers they can show to clients that his article has such amount response.
and as i will take care of SEO so the write will get a good publicity from this site.
2) what about usr interface?
ans: i am planing a simple interface, as an article site must have simple interface will less collor.
3) what will the user experience while using it?
ans: user will feel good.
because though it will have simple interface, but i will JQuery and ajax which will make user feel smooth.
Payment Ideas
let me tell you, how i think it can be distributed:
1) we make accounts in google adsense, amazon etc, and at the end of the month we collect the income and transfer it to our paypal account.
2) we calculate the total income and so the half of the income( as we are willing to pay that amount)
3) we insert the amount we wanna pay in admin panel in the decided field, and the script will calculate the amount of how much to pay to which writer.
4) the calculation can be done based on on the facts:
=> 5 points for each article submission, 1 extra point per 100 character( if the article is between 300 to 399 character then they get 3 extra point)
=> 1 point for each comment less than 50 characters, and 2 points for more than 50 character.
=> 1 point for each good rating, 2 points for each very good rating and -1(negative) point for a bad rating. (like for rating 1-4 point is -1, for 5-8 point is 1 and for 9-10 point is 2)
=> if a report is done against any article and you find it right, you suggest the writer to correct it. and they get -5 points(but it will be upto you to give him -5 point or not)
=> if a report is done against any article and you find the topic or the whole article is very sensitive, and can not be kept in your site, you cancel it and the writer get -10 points. (but whether to keep it or not in your site will be your decision. like you can keep a very sensitive and controversial article in you site as you are getting more traffic and comments and user contribution to it.)
5) so at the end of the month you calculate the earned point(it will be earned point only of the month only) of the writer, and based on that you distribute the money to the writer account.
like if the whole collected point but all writer is totally 10000, and a writer has earned 150 point, then he will get (150/10000) part of the total money.
for example: if
total money to pay = $500.
total point = 10000
point of the writer = 150
then the writer will get payment = 500*(150/10000) = 7.5
so he gets $7.5
6) then you do the payment to their paypal account. we will use paypal api to do the payment and payment can be done in a few click from admin panel
7) at 5th of the month you do the payment to the user paypal account. and the user will be notified by mail from your site.
Cast you're votes give me your ideas..... LET'S MAKE A GREAT PLAN AND I'LL BUILD IT!!!
I have the power :)

Create Online Websites for Beginners
Starting
a website in
4 easy steps
Domain Name Registration
Step 1
The first thing every great website needs is a great domain name. The domain
name you choose should be well planned and well thought out. So let's start with
what your new website will showcase. Is this a
small business website or is the website going to be a hobby website? Is it
a
blog or an affiliate site? Is it meant to be used for personal use or to
generate a little extra money?
Let's say you have a small flower shop and you would like folks to be able to
view some of your work, maybe get your address and a phone number, send you an
email or two. This is the most basic of websites. This is what we call a
"Brochure Site". For this type of website you'll need a domain name, a very
basic web hosting plan and a website builder.
First we'll pick a "Domain Name". No matter what kind of website you may need it
all starts with the domain name. In the example given above, we're the proud
owners of a small but very exquisite flower shop. In fact let's call it just
that, "Exquisite Flowers."
Your domain name is your internet address; same as the address on your house.
Where are we going? Use relevant keywords in your domain names. The name of our
flower shop is "Exquisite Flowers" so picking the domain name is pretty simple.
ExquisiteFlowers.com. Your business name can be used to "fetch" your website and
show your customers your company information and much more.
For those looking to create an online website for an affiliate campaign,
generating revenue and profit is what you're looking to do. In this case you
need to make sure that your website is picked and indexed by the search engines
as fast as possible and rank as high as possible as well. In this case you would
want to chose and domain name that has your "niche keyword" in the actual domain
name. This is very important to 'search rankings'. The websites "thelionseye.com"
and webhostingworld.com both showcase webhosting and website designs. But which
one would you think would have more information on the subject of
web hosting... Not thelionseye.com. You would of course pick
webhostingworld.com. ALL SEARCH ENGINES PICK WEBSITES THE SAME WAY!Check below
to see if your domain name is available and then go ahead and move on to Step 2
"Web Hosting".
Web Hosting
Step 2
Web hosting is what actually holds and presents your websites and the
information you would like to show to your visitors.
You've chosen a domain name by now and you're ready to move on to step 2. Your
website will need to be "hosted". Once you have a domain name so that folks can
enter your "domain address" they'll need to be taken somewhere. Just like your
domain name is the same as your house address your "web hosting" is your house.
It's where you store your information so that when a visitor types your "web
address" ExquisiteFlowers.com, it brings them to your house aka your hosted
website, presenting visitors with the website that you have designed.
The type of information you're looking to share on your website dictates your
hosting needs. The basic small business website or affiliate website will only
need the bare minimum of hosting requirements. Even with a basic web hosting
plan a very robust and user friendly website can be shown. DON'T OVER SPEND!
Most folks over spend when it comes to their
website hosting.
If you are a small business owner or you're looking to to have a personal, blog,
or an affiliate website than a basic
Windows Hosting plan will work for you. Simple, easy to use and navigate.
Below you can choose the web hosting that best fits your needs. Remember that
99% of most websites only need the most basic plan. The choice will be between
either Linux or Windows hosting, based on the options they offer. You've picked
a domain name, now let's pick a hosting plan. After which we'll move on to Step
3, pick the website builder program that best fits your needs and the websites
you want to build.
WebSite Builder
Step 3
Ok, we're moving right along here. So far we've picked a domain name, we've
chosen a web hosting plan to showcase our new website and now we have to
actually build a website for folks to visit.
Don't worry, it's not that hard! Just about everyone that sells domain names or
web hosting offers some sort of website builder. We'll be using our website
builder as an example. CreateOnlineWebSites.com's website builder is so easy to
use and has near unlimited design potentials. Our website builder is a bit
different than others in that it can be used to publish a website to any hosting
plan for any domain name. In other words you don't have to have your hosting
with us or your domains with us in order for you to use our website builder.
There are many different ways to build a website. Again you have to ask
yourself, "What will I be want to show? Will it be a website for my small
business or a website to show a product?" In any case, a website builder will
allow you to build a website of your own and post it to your hosting account so
that when someone types in your domain name/address they will be taken to and
shown your new website.
Use this link to "test drive" our website builder for just a bit. Try a few
different templates, try building a shopping website, try building a blog site.
Play with it for a while get to used to it and see if you like it before you buy
it.
Keep in mind most hosting companies have some version of a website builder. Most
will only let you post or edit one website. Ours can be used to build a website
and post it to any
domain hosting plan.
Test drive our website builder and we'll move on to the final thoughts, a few
how to's, and some great tips and links to help you get started.
